Public hearing on Hill Top Hotel Concept Plan Design changes

Notice is hereby given of a public hearing to be held by the Harpers Ferry Planning Commission to review SWaN’s recent changes to the Concept Design Plan for the proposed Hill Top Hotel site in Harpers Ferry’s Promontory Overlay District. The presentation is open to the public and will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Harpers Ferry Town Hall. A drawing of the proposed changes is attached to RFI (Request For Information) No. 027 (click the link to view).

Interested parties who wish to make public comments must sign up before the meeting to address the gathering for up to five minutes in person. You are encouraged to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the meeting in order to sign up. While a public hearing is not a question-and-answer session, the Harpers Ferry Planning Commission is looking forward to the opportunity to hear your comments and views on this important matter.

SWaN Legend's Hill Top Hotel Concept Plan submission - updated 4 Sep 2018

During the Planning Commission's special meeting that was called on 15 May, SWaN Legend's project and design team presented the formal Concept Plan for the Hill Top Hotel reconstruction project. This submission included three key components:

The objectives of the Harpers Ferry Planning Commission, in its advisory capacity, are to promote the orderly development of the Town; preserve, protect, and foster the rehabilitation of its historic edifices; provide healthy surroundings for family life; to insure that growth of the community is commensurate with its historic significance; and such other objectives, as set forth in West Virginia Code. The Commission consists of seven appointed members, including a Town Council representative and one member appointed directly by the Mayor. For complete information, refer to Article 133 of the Codified Ordinances of Harpers Ferry.

Additionally, one member of the Planning Commission must also serve as a member of the Tree Committee, as required by Article 1104 of the Codified Ordinances.

Regular monthly meetings of the Planning Commission are held at 7:00 p.m. on the Tuesday immediately following the third Monday of each month. Additional meetings are occasionally required. All meetings are open to the public and are held upstairs at Town Hall.
